Who is "Peace Warrior"?
The artist known as Banksy has an incredible talent for speaking truth to power with a single striking image. For me, his Love Is In The Air, Flower Thrower is the epitome of this idea, and it got me thinking about what I might toss instead of flowers. I believe that love is an endless fuel within us, one which we can use to affect real change. So, I drew my own protestor tossing a heart-- throwing love with wild abandon. Peace Warrior encourages us all to do the same: to stand up for peace, for justice, and for each other.
This must be an active, not a passive endeavor, as Peace Warrior demonstrates with his stance. Throw love like a molotov cocktail; meet the weapons of apathy and hate with caring and compassion; hurl grenades of peace at everyone you meet.
As Elie Wiesel said, “I believe that a person who is indifferent to the suffering of others is complicit in the crime. And that I cannot allow, at least not for myself.”
